Missouri History Museum

L      Last November Bert and I spent a day at the History Museum in Forest Park, St. Louis.  We took the Metro Link to the museum, pretty cool, it stops about one block from it.

They have a large exhibit of the worlds fair, with movies and pictures, plus souveniers from 1904.

Owney was a stray dog that some postal workers found by the railroad yards.  He became a mascot and received many medals for riding with the post office delivering mail.  When he got old he became too cranky and they retired him.  After Owney died he was stuffed and has been exhibited ever since.  The original is in the Smithsonian Museum!

The Moon car was pretty popular before the depression, but too expensive for the average person.

A replica of Lindberg's plane seems to fly overhead!

The Pattonville School District had a field day for some students and they all dressed up in period costume of The 1904  Worlds Fair of St. Louis, MO.  There were some really great costumes so I asked the teacher if I could take some pictures and show them on my web site.  Hope everyone gets a chance to see them, they all looked great!  Thanks to everyone!

Goodbye from "Owney" and me
